I would also add that it is important that we pray to God that His Holy Spirit would speak through us to others. It was in the night after we had gone to bed. I'm not sure why I woke up but she was standing there and smiling at me. She had her hand stretched out and a gift was in it. She was giving it to me. I looked at her, she was surrounded by light as if she was the ligh. I opened the window and looked outside, my fathers donkey was tied outside near to my window. I could feel the cold air. She was still there when I looked back. I closed my eyes and opened it but she was still there. I called out to my mother and while my mother answered and was coming from her room across the passage, we called it hall she just faded until there was just a spot of light just as mama reach. By the way my doorway did not have a door but a curtain. When my mother came I told her. She said it was an angel. She did not see anything.

Re: When the World Sends You Garbage, Send Back Music

Beautiful!

Re: Are Angels Real? Infertility is the result of an underlying disease that IVF and assisted reproductive technologies don't address. There is another medical approach to infertility that is more effective than IVF called NaProTechnology. Doctors trained in NaProTechnology work to diagnose and treat the root cause of infertility which can be hormonal in nature, due to an ovulation defect, caused by endometriosis, pelvic adhesive disease or PCOS. Once the underlying problem is treated the couple can conceive spontaneously in a natural act of intercourse. Couples get answers why they are unable to conceive rather than the canned answer of "unexplained infertility." With NaProTechnology there are not ethical considerations so a couple doesn't have to choose between their faith and their fertility and life is not destroyed in order to be created as it is with IVF. The first step for a couple to be treated by a doctor trained in NaProTechnology is for the woman to learn to chart her cycle precisely with the Creighton Model System of FertilityCare. The data from the charting is used to identify an increased risk of miscarriage, cervical inflammation, PCOS, ovarian cysts, ovulation defects etc. A NaPro trained doctor uses the woman's chart as a diagnostic tool and can address the problems through a complete hormonal evaluation, serial ultrasounds, and surgery where necessary. I teach couples the Creighton FertilityCare System and promote NaProTechnology on my website www.fertilityisnotadisease.com .

Re: Stormzy, Coldplay and Kanye Reached for the Light this Year. There is no one problem, or situation, bigger and more needy than another, in the regular programme of a church? I do think also that we need to all be muddled up together into a 'community' rather than calling it 'a family', since 'nuclear family' has become the understood norm for the meaning of the word. Though it can be a word of threat to others than childless people, because it can be used by those who disapprove of same sex couples as in 'Oh, we hoped *a family would move in next door*' - implying 'that is not what you are'. Note that both Jewish and Muslim people refer to 'our community' rather than 'our family' when they speak of their 'congregation' - and also that 'family' inNT times meant a household, extended family, not parents and kids only.

Re: Friends, the World is Asking More From Us

Much to agree with here. I guess I'd add that it doesn't have to be an either-or but a both-and scenario. Parents needs help, support and biblical direction in raising their children well. And single, childless couples, the divorced and many others need help, support and biblical direction in living out their lives also.

Re: Friends, the World is Asking More From Us

This centring on 'the family', which causes pain to infertile couples, isn't 'at the centre of Christianity' though the way it is put there suggests to most people (inside and outside the church) implies that it is. It is, these days, one of the ways churches are preserving a 1950s culture, women in the home having babies, and it is sadly wrong, not just for today - it is simply not part of the Gospel! My feeling is, we need to both stop seeing Christianity as the cradle/protector of 'family values' and a way to ensure the survival of our 'tribe'. Christianity isn't (meant to be) a religion which keeps up its numbers by ensuring kids are born to Christian families! My point here is, let's somehow centre the church back onJesus's teaching, which was inclusive, and centred if anything on the poor, the marginalised, social injustices, inclusiveness. This would also help solve the problem of the LBTQ+ community, who are also 'misfits' in church, and those couples who, for whatever reason, choose not to have children. Two issues solved in one... (if only!) We have (now adult) children, but one sees enough to know how hard it is for those without, in church. And it is not spoken of by those who have the power to produce change, yet constantly discuss 'human sexuality' in synod.

Re: 059 Seven Ways God Might Be Speaking To You

It seems to me that God tells me there's a root of sin in my heart with every bad feeling I experience. When I have a bad feeling of any kind, under any circumstances, I can ask God to help me see how I'm looking at things the wrong way and to show me the right way to perceive my situation and the people involved. I can never see them clearly because of my own experiences and feelings, but God can see the whole picture and help me stop being such an unintentional 1 man demolition crew in His creation.
Also, I love your article! Yet, as if implying that they'll come around if you try hard enough. How very patronizing. How very condescending. One word less and you might have sounded like someone understanding. Instead you've proven yourself to be like every other Christian deep down.
Oh don't get me wrong, this was still one of the better reads, but it's obvious you're speaking to fellow Christians here, not atheists. This isn't really about understanding the atheist viewpoint and leaving them alone, this is about conversion and you know you catch more flies with honey than vinegar. More people are going to listen to the reasonable Christian than the condemning one.
But with one word, you blew the ruse wide open. 'Haven't been convinced yet'. Oh but if you pretend to be a reasonable and sane person, you too can bring them into the flock!
Not all of us left because Christians are unreasonable, even though you are. Not all of us left because we were condemned for asking questions, even though we were. Some of us found a book on cults and realized that the Catholic Church hits almost all of the criteria.
But you were very close there. You almost had me thinking you were one of those rarest of breeds; A Christian who actually accepts other people and leaves them alone.
You know who else used deceit to trick people? Satan did.

Re: Whatever Your Job is Today, Treat it as a Caring Profession. For me, my longterm singleness has neither been a gift or a calling. For me it’s been more like a “thorn in the flesh” - it often aches (particularly when I can’t afford rent as a single in Sydney!), but God’s grace is sufficient. I take comfort in God’s words in Genesis where the one thing in creation that wasn’t good was that man was alone. His solution to that aloneness was marriage. I believe the desire for intimate relationship is built into what it means to be human and reflects the image of God - who as a trinity knows and enjoys reciprocal love.

And when I do get married, I pray that my partner will encourage me to serve God more not less. As singles we are complete and contentment in every situation is always possible in Christ even while the loneliness is real. Life with Jesus is beautifully abundant no matter our marital status.
